Restylane 101

Resytlane 101

Restylane is a safe and effective injectable filler developed by Galderma. It is made from hyaluronic acid (also known as HA), a natural substance made by the body. It is one of the first ever approved injectable fillers by the FDA for cosmetic injections under the surface of the skin. Restylane is completely biodegradable and compatible with human hyaluronic acid, meaning it is not toxic to your body, reducing any possible allergic reactions.
There are some considerations that need to be made if you do have a history severe allergic reactions, and if you are allergic to lidocaine, or any other proteins used to create HA. Those who are prone to bleeding or have a bleeding disorder should also be cautious before using Restylane.
Restylane’s primary function is to give a plump appearance and provide contour and fullness to your facial skin. This gel filler is injected in small amounts on areas where your dermatologist deems to need more volume. It restores the structure and fullness of your skin’s surface in a natural way. This treats frown lines, wrinkles around your eyes, forehead, and around your lips. It can also restore your under-eye area as that tends to lose volume due to the aging process. Other areas also include restoring lost volume around the nose and chin.
Its versatility allows it to be used in tandem with Botox for maximum effectiveness. Botox would relax your facial muscles, prolonging the results obtained from using Restylane.
As far as side effects go, the most common observed are swelling, redness, some pain, and minimal bruising. There are also some cases of tenderness and itching on the sites of injections. Usually these resolve in less than 7 days in most areas of your face, and likely 14 days around the lip area. Just like iwth any skin injection procedures, there are risks of infections but area very uncommon. When getting cosmetic injection treatment, make sure you are going to a licensed expert.
