Five Skin Care Tips for A Rainy Summer Season

If you live in Florida, you know that the summer season can be full of thunderstorms. This means that the humidity levels outstide can be so unbearable, making your skin feel sticky and dry and your hair looking frizzy. Here are five tips you can follow during this time:
1. Shampoo and Condition your Hair A bit More – The level of humidity can be extremely high during the summer, and a lot more when it’s raining regularly. Keeping your hair moisturized can prevent your scalp from drying out, causing your hair to feel coarse and prone to loss. The humidity also makes you sweat even more, allowing for germs and bacteria to latch onto your scalp so cleaning it regularly is a must.
2. Go Heavy on the Moisturizer – Just like your scalp, moisturizing your skin during a wet summer is also a must. This is especially if you have a dry skin type. If you have oily skin, use a moisturizer that’s water-based to keep oil secretion levels in check.
3. Try to Avoid Showering with Hot Water – Stick to lukewarm or room temperature water when you shower. This prevents your skin from drying out. Showering with hot water can also damage your skin’s capillaries, resulting in being more susceptible to infections and inflammation.
4. Change Your Toning Routine – Toning your skin needs to be altered. Do it with an alcohol-free toner to prevent dryness of the skin. Remember that the goal to get through a wet summer unscathed is to keep your skin from being dry. You should also try to avoid skin bleaching as these treatments can cause your skin to become rough.
5. Don’t Skip Out On The Sunscreen – Just because it’s cloudy or raining outside doesn’t mean that you should not put on sunscreen. The sun’s UV rays will continue to penetrate your skin and cause damage even if the sun isn’t shining. Also remember to re-apply regularly as well.
